The Cellular and Clinical Research Centre (CCRC) is committed to combating infectious diseases and improving public health through innovative research, training and advancements in public health.

Our multidisciplinary team integrates radioisotope techniques with advanced epidemiology (the study of disease patterns), microbiology (the study of germs and bacteria), and molecular biology (the analysis of genes and cells) to enhance the diagnosis, monitoring, and prevention of diseases that affect millions of people.

By partnering with national and international institutions, CCRC delivers impactful research and builds capacity to strengthen public health systems in Ghana.

At CRCC, we don’t just conduct research; we influence policy, empower healthcare professionals, and save lives.

Vision

To be a leading contributor to reducing Ghana’s disease burden through innovative research and training in molecular, epidemiological and isotopic techniques.

Mission:

To conduct applied research, build capacity, and lead public outreach efforts to combat infectious diseases, address drug resistance, promote cervical cancer prevention, and advance diagnostics through molecular and isotopic techniques.

Core Functions

  1. Conduct research on infectious agents, including human papillomavirus (HPV), Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Complex (MTBC) and neglected tropical diseases.
  2. Develop strategies for cervical cancer prevention and provide educational outreach.
  3. Offer hands-on training in molecular and isotopic diagnostic methods.
  4. Contribute evidence-based insights to shape health policies.

Impact and Achievements

  • Trained over 180 medical laboratory scientists, interns, and students in molecular diagnostics.
  • Reached thousands in Greater Accra with cervical cancer prevention education.
  • Influenced national policy on HPV and MTBC through critical research.
